To Blog, or Not to Blog

// January 8th, 2009 // No Comments » // News

I’m going to start blogging as soon as I get a minute, but right now I’m off to China for two weeks.  When I get back I will start revising Hosanna for the Millennium Choir concerts with George Dyer and Jenny Oaks Baker to be performed at First Methodist Church in downtown SL on Easter weekend.  I will be writing “Allelulia” (Part II in the Life of Christ series from the King James Bible) on the plane to and from China and in other spare moments.  Squeezed in between all that will be the writing of “Hymn To America”- something I’ve had on my plate for 30 years-when I’m not busy running Two Little Hands Productions, which produces the “Signing Time” DVD series.  Look out!  Look out!  The blog is coming . . .  but don’t hold your breath.  Meanwhile, I have a question for anyone that is interested.  What is the difference between a “Tune Smith” and a “Composer?”  (By the way, when writing english, not music, does the .,!? come before, or after the “?, or is it ?”  I can never remember.  Also, I almost forgot, before getting into serious blogging, there are three movies I wish to produce at the pace of 1 per year.  They are- not necessarily in this order- Saturday’s Warrior, My Turn On Earth and a new musical by Carol Lynn Pearson and myself entitled, ” . . .  Would you believe I forgot the title?  Oh well, it is about a gifted LDS girl, a singer/songwriter, who struggles with her desire to “make it big”, really big and possibly sacrifice her values/testimony/virtue (fill in the blank) versus “play small”.  (Think perform at ward dinners, or Murray Park for free.)  Once again, is it “play small.”, or is it “play small”.? This is why I hate blogging.  I need an editor.  Seriously, what do you think?  Should she go for it, or not?  I mean, really, are these the only options-  “make it big” and loose your testimony, versus “play small” and endure to the end?  Surely, there are other ways.  I mean, just because you are a star doesn’t mean you have to do smoking and Coca Cola commercials and stuff like that.  On the other hand, the Hotel Utah used to serve great coffee (so I hear), but now it is the Joseph Smith Building which houses Church Distribution and Genealogy, etc, etc. etc. Maybe there is a lesson for us here, somewhere.  Avoid the appearance of evil.  Don’t even operate a hotel.  Anyway, one of these days I am going to start blogging.  The problem with that is that it doesn’t matter what I do, what I’ve done, or what i’m going to do.  People only care about one thing- Saturday’s Warrior.
